Addressing the Drinking Water Crisis for Cows and Other Animals in Marathwada
The Marathwada Janvikas Sangh has undertaken a commendable initiative across 15 villages, establishing 105 sinks (hauds) and distributing approximately 2 lakh liters of water daily. Led by Arun Pawar over the past year, this initiative has significantly benefited villages like Chincholi, Aroli (Tuljapur District), and several others in Osmanabad District (Wadi, Bamni, Kesigaon, etc.). With the dedicated efforts of over 20 villages and their workers, more than 3000 animals now have access to clean drinking water, facilitated by daily tanker services. The project, costing approximately 22 lakhs, underscores the urgent need for government intervention to further alleviate this critical issue

Efforts to Address Water Scarcity in Marathwada: A Community Initiative
In Marathwada, there is a severe water scarcity issue. Citizens are required to travel extensively to access fresh water. To address this, a decision was made to provide water to the locality by increasing the population of Janavika Sangha. The village of Sangha in Usmanabad district has received water supply at the expense of increasing the population of the Marathwada Janavika Sangha. Similarly, water supply has been arranged for the villages of Bhoom Daluk, Zam, Bavi, Panhalwadi, and Bhawanwadi through tankers. Additionally, the Mamta Andhra Anath Kendra in Pimpleguravya has also been provided with a water supply. The heads of the Marathwada People’s Union, including Arun Pawar, Vaman Bhargande, Suryakant Kurulkar, and Balaji Pawar, were present at the event.
Humanitarian Efforts and Challenges in Marathwada: Addressing Water Scarcity and Animal Welfare
In Usmanabad, there have been significant challenges in recent years. In 2013, nearly 200 dead bodies were discovered in the water in Sonari village, and such incidents have become frequent in Marathwada. To address these issues, some residents from Pimpri Chinchwad, who have lost their lives, have initiated a campaign to save lives. These individuals share a common link: they are originally from Marathwada. The Marathwada Janavika Sangh contributed food and water for the dead bodies in Sonari, and this initiative gained momentum. They extended their efforts to provide food and water for livestock from 20 villages in Usmanabad. Tankers were used to fill concrete tanks with water, benefiting around 3,000 fields. This provision supported cows, buffaloes, calves, camels, goats, lambs, and various birds. At the Kala Bhairavnath Temple in Bhumparanta Taluk, which houses 650 birds, a shortage of food and water two years ago led to the loss of 250 birds. This year, a 10-centimeter fence was installed to protect wild animals and birds.
